Trip-planning tools

Four small calculators for the questions that come up once you have a hotel in mind: how long to stay, what the weather will do, which order makes sense and what things will cost in local money. They are free and need no sign-up. The hotel matcher, flight distances, jet lag and budget planners and the packing list live on the home page.

Tool · Nights

How long should we stay?

Tick the hotels you want to string together and say how quickly you like to move. You get a suggested number of nights at each, plus extra days wherever the trip jumps between regions.

Tool · Climate

Weather, side by side

Set two hotels against each other and see their typical daytime highs month by month. The copper bands mark the months we rate highest for the first hotel you choose.

Figures are rough long-term averages of the afternoon high, in whole degrees Celsius. Any given week can run warmer or cooler.

Tool · Order

Which hotel first?

Tell us where you set off from and tick the hotels on your list. The planner hops to the nearest one each time, measured as the crow flies, and brings you home at the end.

    Tool · Money

    What is that in euros?

Turn an amount from one currency into another, covering every currency used at the hotels in the journal. Rates are daily reference figures, refreshed once a day.
